Captured in 2025, this photograph plays with one of my favorite contrasts in Chicago: the weight of the architecture versus the softness of its reflection on the river. The buildings rise sharp and heavy, but in the water they become almost fluid, bending and shifting with the current and the winter ice. It’s the city seen twice, once as it stands, once as it breathes.
I shot this from above to line up the reflection with the walkway. The person moving through the frame grounds the image, giving scale to the scene and reminding us that the river isn’t just a backdrop. It’s part of how the city feels and functions. The bare tree in the foreground adds another layer, a quiet reminder of the season.
These prints are produced in strictly limited editions:
16×24 inches (Edition of 5)
20×30 inches (Edition of 5)
24×36 inches (Edition of 3)
After these editions sell out, the image is permanently retired from printing. Only two Artist Proofs exist beyond these editions. Every print is made on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta, signed, and accompanied by a registered Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity. Prints are sold unframed. Shipping available within the US and Mexico.
This piece fits especially well in modern, minimal spaces, places where strong vertical lines and quiet reflections can play off each other.
